TAA IN THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR
OBJECTIVE
Dog-assisted therapies are a tool to work on the entire set of educational subjects but with a different perspective and are a therapeutic means that facilitates students' learning given their emotional component. All educational subjects can be adapted to the activities we carry out.
The objectives are worked on with the educational team and can be related to:
How to take care of animals.
Values: They must understand that they are working dogs and have a special value.
Working on emotions: We will work on emotions through play.
Consistency work: In order to play sports games, dogs must have basic obedience (SIT, QUIET, DOWN AND COME) that children will have to practice with great patience.
Teamwork.
Concentration and attention work: We play games using the clicker.
Motivation work to come to school.
Work on understanding dog body language: As dogs are of different ages, not all have the same activity.
Work on affection and respect: Obviously this aspect is worked on from day one where they must respect and love the dogs they have to work with. We will talk about affection for both animals and the elderly, disabled and other groups with whom they may have contact later.
